Jeep swerves to avoid dog, crashes near Windom

A Tracy man and woman were injured in a crash after swerving to avoid a dog in the roadway in Cottonwood County.


According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2011 Jeep Wrangler operated by Billy Thao, 58, of Tracy was westbound on Minnesota 62 in Great Bend Township of Cottonwood County, just west of Windom, when it swerved to avoid a dog in the roadway and entered the ditch. The crash was reported at 6:37 p.m. Sunday.


Thao sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Windom Area Healt. A passenger, Sally S. Vang, 55, of Tracy, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Windom Area Health.


The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Windom Police Department, Windom Fire Department and Windom Ambulance assisted at the scene.
