Fifth-seeded Hills-Beaver Creek wrapped up its first Boys Basketball state championship in dominant fashion Saturday, building a 32-9 halftime lead and withstanding a second-half run to pull away for a 64-33 victory over Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton in the Class A final.
Most of these Patriots were also on the U.S. Bank Stadium field in November when Hills-Beaver Creek captured the 9-Man Football state title. On the Williams Arena court Saturday, senior forward Jamin Metzger had game-highs of 22 points and 13 rebounds, Brodie Metzger added 13 points and eight boards and Micah Bush contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.
H-BC, which finished its season 30-3, amassed its big halftime advantage thanks to a defensive effort that limited Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton to just 3-of-24 shooting — or 12.5% -- in the opening 18 minutes.

Jackson County Central won a back-and-forth game and the Class 2A consolation title Friday, edging Waseca 66-65 behind Roman Voss's 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Voss scored his 2,000th career point in the game, reaching the milestone only achieved by one other Huskie player — his older brother, Rudy.
Weston Rowe finished with 17 points and nine rebounds for JCC, and Mason Foster made four 3-pointers and had 14 points. Ben Gallagher passed for eight assists as the Huskies ended their season 27-7.
