A Mountain Lake woman died Saturday after being struck by a motor vehicle in Cottonwood County.
According to a press release from the Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office, a crash involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian was reported at approximately 8:18 a.m. Saturday. The incident took place on Cottonwood County 3, one-and-a-half miles east of Cottonwood County 2. First Responders were dispatched to the scene.
Upon investigation it was determined that a 2018 Silverado operated by a 25-year-old male from rural Bingham Lake was eastbound on Cottonwood County 3, and there were two pedestrians jogging eastbound on the same road. The Silverado came over the crest of the hill and struck a 39-year-old female from Mountain Lake. The female was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Mountain Lake Police Department, Fire Department and Ambulance as well as the Minnesota State Patrol and the Cottonwood County Highway Department. The crash remains under investigation.
