Bond referendum for Ellsworth school passed by voters

Voters approved Tuesday a $5 million bond referendum to support Ellsworth Public School.

A total of 191 votes were cast and just 44 were opposed. Key updates that the district states will be made possible by passage of the bond include: an HVAC cooling and heating system that includes every classroom and the gym and shop; replacing rooves in the gymnasium; an upgraded electrical system that would support the new HVAC system; a new propane fuel system that would replace the current oil-fuel based system; and new windows that would be more efficient with the new heating and cooling system.

The Ellsworth School Board is scheduled to canvass the unofficial results of Tuesday's election during its meeting next Monday.
