Osceola County VA hosting free veterans event this weekend

Osceola County Veterans Affairs and county American Legion representatives are partnering with the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System team to offer a free veterans’ resource event 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ocheyedan Town Hall.

VA staff will be available that day to assist veterans with services such as eligibility, transportation, the PACT Act and patient advocacy.

Representatives also will be on hand from area American Legions and auxiliaries, county VA offices, Iowa Works and the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

The event is open to all veterans, not just those in Osceola County. Those registering for benefits are asked to do so by listing their county of residence.

Other than a short startup ceremony at 10 a.m., the event has a come-and-go format as each person’s schedule allows. Anyone attending can connect with the program or person of interest and does not need to visit each station.
