Rehnelt, Krekelberg receive special King Turkey Day recognition

Diane Rehnelt was recognized as the Honorary Turkey and Joel Krekelberg as the Parade Marshal during Thursday's annual King Turkey Day mixer in the downtown pavilion.

KTD President Adam Dahlquist noted that Rehnelt has served the community through hospitality and customer service for more than 40 years. 

"For almost 30 years, she worked alongside her partner at Worthington's hottest watering hole, especially during King Turkey Day," Dahlquist said, adding: "At the same time, she also had a full-time job in the banking industry, where she provided excellent customer service to all of her clients."

It was also noted Rehnelt "and her partner have opened up their home and their spacious backyard for an annual walleye feed for the Cuero delegation."

Krekelberg has spent decades giving back to Worthington, Dahlquist explained. 

"He's been a familiar face on the sidelines, caring for generations of athletes at Worthington High School and Minnesota West," Dahlquist said of the recently-retired trainer. "Thousands of athletes, coaches, students, families and friends have benefited from his dedication, friendship and willingness to always be there when someone needed him."

Both Rehnelt and Krekelberg will ride in Saturday afternoon's King Turkey Day grand parade along 10^th Street in Worthington. The community's annual festival was hosted for the first time in 1939.
