Crisis center moving to regional model as two offices will close

The Southwest Crisis Center (SWCC) is announcing a transition to a regional office model designed to support the organization's long-term sustainability while continuing to provide high-quality advocacy and support services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and sexual exploitation and trafficking across southwest Minnesota.

A press release from the center states that, after thoughtful review of programs, funding and long-term operational needs, the SWCC will close its Jackson and Luverne offices and provide services through regional centers based in Windom, Pipestone, Worthington and Slayton.

"While change can bring uncertainty, our mission remains strong," said Sara Wahl, executive director of Southwest Crisis Center, in the press release. "These steps are being taken to ensure the long-term stability of our organization so we can continue to stand with survivors today, and in the years ahead."

Clients will continue to have access to advocacy, support and resources without interruption. Residents of both Rock County and Jackson County will continue to be served by the Southwest Crisis Center, with advocates available throughout the regional service model.

The press release adds that SWCC remains committed to strong partnerships and open communication through this transition. Community partners and referral sources are encouraged to reach out with questions about how services will be accessed or coordinated going forward.

"Our priority is making sure survivors continue to receive compassionate, trauma-informed care, no matter where services are based," Wahl said. "We deeply value the trust of our communities and are committed to ensuring this transition is as smooth and supportive as possible.:
