Cold storage addition coming to Luverne plant

Lynch Family Companies is planning the addition of cold storage capacity adjacent to its plant in Luverne.

The cold storage facility will be a constructed on a 47-acre field that hosts the Luverne plant. Lynch sold 13 of those acres to Lineage Logistics, the world’s largest temperature-controlled industrial real estate investment trust and logistics solutions provider. Lineage Logistics will construct and operate the facility, according to a company press release.

Lynch plans to rent one-third of the space in the freezer for product storage, which will intend to alleviate supply-chain issues and allow customers access to fresher pork. The freezer will store products from three Lynch mills and two harvest plants. On-site storage will allow Lynch to ship its product to customers across the country more efficiently.

Lineage Logistics, based in Novi, Michigan, has a global network of more than 400 strategically located facilities totaling over two billion cubic feet of capacity in 19 countries across North America, Europe and Asia.

Lynch Family Companies Inc. is a collection of family-owned, agriculture-focused organizations headquartered in Waucoma, Iowa.
