City council sees two more candidates, school board also adds two more

Two more individuals filed Tuesday for the Ward 2 Worthington City Council seat currently held on an interim basis by Dennis Weber, meaning three people will seek that post in November.

Weber, who has filed for the council member at large seat that will be voted upon in November, was appointed to his current Ward 2 seat when Alaina Kolpin moved out of city limits. He'll be running unopposed for the council member at large position, as incumbent Chad Cummings opted not to seek re-election.

For the Ward 2 seat now held by Weber, the three candidates aiming to fill the rest of Kolpin's unexpired term -- which ends at the conclusion of 2026 -- are Michelle Ebbers, Eugenio Lopez and former councilman and mayor Mike Kuhle. Ebbers filed her candidacy on Monday, while Lopez and Kuhle did so on Tuesday.

Also running for council are Ward 1 incumbent Chris Kielblock and Ward 2 incumbent Amy Ernst, who are each seeking new four-year terms.

Meanwhile, two additional candidates filed Tuesday for the Worthington Independent School District 518 Board of Education. Ann Mills, a former school board member who also once taught in the district, is running for one of the four spots up for election in November. Another individual filing their candidacy Tuesday was Eric Parrish.

Other candidates include incumbents Steve Schnieder and Matt Widboom, Darla Agard and Kristin Walerius.
