Bluejay wrestlers to hit the mat at national tourney this weekend

Minnesota West Community & Technical College will have three student-athletes competing at the NJCAA Division 3 National Wrestling Tournament this weekend.
Wrestling action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. today and continue through Saturday at Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Freshman Leif Ingebretsen, a 2025 graduate of Luverne High School, will compete for the Bluejays this weekend after placing second at 141 pounds at the District 13 Championships, which took place Feb. 21 at Minnesota North College-Itasca in Grand Rapids. Ingebretsen will have a first-round bye at nationals and will have his first match in the Round of 32 against Parker Ballantyne of North Idaho.
Wrestling at 174 pounds for Minnesota West this weekend will be freshman Romarian Farquharson from Riverview, Fla., who placed third in the district tournament. He will begin his national tourney by meeting Andrew Geisenheimer of Camden County in the Round of 64.
Powers Mensah, a sophomore from Arlington, Texas, will be competing at 285 pounds after qualifying for the national tournament for the second consecutive year. Mensah, who did not place at the 2025 nationals, placed third at districts. He has a first-round bye and is slated to take on Hunter Tibodeau of Big Bend in the Round of 32.
Minnesota West's wrestlers are led by first-year head coach Ben Goodwin.
