The Minnesota West Bluejay men's soccer team will open Region 13 Tournament play tonight when it hosts Alexandria Technical & Community College in a semifinal match. The action is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Trojan Field.
The Bluejays enter today's match with a record of 4-6-2 but nevertheless are in the driver's seat when it comes to playing at home. Should Minnesota West defeat Alex tonight, it will host either Anoka-Ramsey or Riverland on Sunday, with a trip to the NJCAA national tournament on the line.
After enduring a September during which they played all five of their matches away from home and went 0-4-1, the Bluejays have been winning at the right time. They're 3-1-1 in October, with victories over both Anoka-Ramsey and Riverland as well as Dakota County Technical College. The loss came against the Dordt University JV and the tie against Alexandria, which Minnesota West also beat 5-2 at Trojan Field back on Aug. 30.

The two teams met back on Sept. 5 in Fergus Falls and it was all Bluejays. Minnesota West won 64-0 as quarterback Armon Vinson tossed five touchdown passes and threw for 305 yards. He has thrown for 2,140 yards and 25 TDs in seven games against 13 interceptions.

The Lady Jays, ranked sixth in the NJCAA Division 3 poll, moved to 33-4 on the season. Sadie Krahling paced Minnesota West offensively with 13 kills while also contributing three ace serves.
