In a girls-boys hockey doubleheader heard Saturday afternoon on 104.3 The Bridge, the Worthington Trojan girls rallied from a 6-0 deficit to edge KMS-Benson-Morris 8-7 in the opener. The WHS boys fell in the nightcap to Morris Benson Area, 6-3.
Kessey Aljets scored four goals for the Trojans in the girls game. It was Cadence Van Ede who tied the score at 7-apiece, and McKenna Nickel with a goal of her own just 17 seconds later for the game-winner. The triumph improved the WHS girls’ record to 2-8.
In the boys game, Morris Benson Area built a 3-0 advantage in the first period, but Konner Honius got WHS on the board just 16 seconds into the second period and Spenser Nickel scored a little more than a minute later to make it 3-2. The Storm then scored three consecutive times in the third period to grab a 6-2 edge; Alec Langerud scored the third Trojan goal. The Worthington boys are now 3-3 on the season.

In Friday night boys basketball action heard on 104.3 The Bridge, Marshall turned a 33-29 halftime edge into a 79-56 win over the Trojans in the WHS gym. Noah Wilts and Andrew Elton tallied 21 points apiece for the Tigers. Andrew Mulder led Worthington with 13 points; Jake Brander added 12 points, Mikele Walu had 11 and Jacari Swinea 10. WHS is now 1-3 so far this season.
The Trojan girls played at Marshall Friday night and were defeated, 59-40. Breanna Simpson had a game-high 24 points for the Tigers. Olivia Hayenga led Worthington offensively with 18 points; Tarren Spartz chipped in with 13 points and 11 rebounds. The loss was the Trojans’ first of the year; they’re now 5-1.

In a high school gymnastics meet Friday night in Worthington, the Trojans compiled 143.825 points to defeat Windom Area, which had 124.75.
Hali Bullerman won all four individual events in capturing the all-around title with a composite score of 37.225. She won the vault with a 9.4, the bars with a 9.125, the beam with a 9.5 and the floor exercise with a 9.2. Her teammate, Mekyla Nystrom, was second in three events – the vault, bars and beam – and was also second in the all-around. The Trojans’ Olivia Barber finished second behind Bullerman on the floor.

In high school wrestling, the Worthington Trojans wrestling team competed in the Redwood River Riot wrestling tourney Friday and Saturday in Redwood Falls. Thirty-four teams took part.
Four WHS wrestlers placed in the event. Tanner Hennings took third at 220 pounds for the Trojans, and\ Cole Hennings was also third at 285. Oscar Galvez was fourth for Worthington at 120 pounds, and Alex Galvez eighth at 106 pounds.
