One person is dead following an incident on a Jackson County lake Sunday afternoon.
Jackson County Sheriff Shawn Haken said dispatchers received a call around 12:15 p.m. reporting a possible drowning on Pearl Lake, about two miles north of the Iowa-Minnesota border, after a paddle boat became submerged. Two of the three people on board were able to swim to shore, but the third is said to have disappeared under the water leading to search that lasted more than two and a half hours when the 23-year-old male victim’s body was discovered in about six feet of water. Dominique Jones of Fayetteville, North Dakota, was identified Tuesday as the victim. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Lakefield fire, police and ambulance crews, the Jackson Fire Department, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Arnolds Park-Okoboji Search and Rescue.
