WPD issues press release on June 5 drive-by-shooting in city

The Worthington Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting that took place last week, according to a press release issued this morning.

The police department reported that the incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. Friday, June 5 in the 1400 block of Third Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the area after receiving multiple reports of gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers located evidence of gunfire and began an investigation. At this time, it is believed this was an isolated incident.

The police department added that no injuries were reported. However, a vehicle as well as two homes were struck by gunfire. Detectives are actively following up on leads and collecting information related to the incident, the press release said,

"The safety of our community remains a priority," the press release concludes. "Detectives will continue following all available leads as they work to identify the individuals involved. No further information will be released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing."
