WPD advises of scams involving officers' names, numbers

The Worthington Police Department is advising that phone scams are going around that include WPD officer names and phone numbers, including the police department’s main number of (507) 295-5400.

The WPD says that the scammers say if you don't pay money immediately, you’ll be arrested for a warrant, and they tell you not to tell anyone else. They are very convincing and are getting local people to pay the money, the WPD adds.

It's stressed that even if you have a warrant, law enforcement will NEVER ask you to pay over the phone.
