Worthington's Brandner invited to join Northwood League team

The Worthington Cubs amateur baseball team has announced that Tucker Brandner has been invited to compete with the Bismarck Larks for the remainder of the 2025 season.

The Larks are a summer collegiate baseball team that competes in the Northwoods League. Brandner is a 2024 graduate of Worthington High School who made the Big South All-Conference Baseball Team in his senior season. He went to attend Minnesota West Community & Technical College in 2024-25 and played for the Bluejays' baseball team. He pitched 45 innings over eight games for the team, compiling a record of two wins and four losses with a 2.20 earned run average while striking out 57 hitters.

During the 2025 amateur baseball season, Brandner has struck out 52 batters in just 23 1/3 innings for the Cubs. He has a 2-2 record and an ERA of 2.40. Brandner has also pitched for the Worthington Senior American Legion baseball team this summer.

The Northwoods League includes 26 teams and promotes itself as the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Among the Northwoods League alumni who have gone on to star in Major League Baseball are Max Scherzer and Chris Sale.

Bismarck competes in the league's Great Plains West Division, whose other members include the Mankato MoonDogs, Wilmar Stingers and Bismarck Larks. The Larks will play a two-game series in Mankato this coming Thursday and Friday. Each of those games start at 6:35 p.m.
