Worthington's April weather was much cooler than normal

Worthington weather in April featured high temperatures that were much cooler than normal, lows also cooler than what’s typical and drier-than-average conditions, according to data compiled at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant.


The normal average high temperature in Worthington in April is 55.1 degrees and the average low is 32.7 degrees, according to National Weather Service statistics. This year, those corresponding numbers are 48.8 degrees and 28.4 degrees, respectively, meaning that April highs were 6.3 degrees cooler than average and the month’s lows 4.3 degrees colder than normal.


April’s highest temperature in Worthington was 77 degrees, which was reported on the 24th, and next warmest was a high of 68 degrees reported on the 23rd. The coldest reading of the month in Worthington was recorded on April 19 at 18 degrees, and there was a low of 19 degrees for both April 16 and 17.


In terms of precipitation, Worthington had a measured total of 1.39 inches of moisture during the month of April. Comparatively, National Weather Service statistics indicate that the average rainfall for the month of April is 3.07 inches. A total of 2 inches of snow fell during April, including 1.5 inches that were reported on April 18. The normal snow during April in Worthington is 4.4 inches.


For the first four months of 2022, Worthington’s average high is 34.8 degrees and the average low is 12.4. Historical averages for January through April are 36.2 and 17.3 degrees. The total precipitation thus far has been 3.83 inches; the historical norm is 6.06 inches. It should be noted that a total of .88 inches of rain was measured on the morning of May 1.
