The Worthington Police Department has released local crime statistics for the 2021 year.
The department includes a variety of crimes in a list organized by categories that include crimes against persons, property crimes, animal complaints, fire/EMS calls, quality of life calls, traffic enforcement, community service calls, miscellaneous calls and alarm calls.
The 2021 numbers for each type of crime or call are listed next to the corresponding 2020 total. Among the data are the following: assaults, 64 in 2021 compared to 44 in 2020; domestic assault, 54 in 2021 compared to 123 in 2020; criminal sexual assaults, 31 in 2021 versus 15 in 2020; disorderly conduct, 148 in 2021 compared to 118 the previous year; burglary, 14 in 2021 as opposed to 28 in 2020; shoplifting, 15 in the past year compared to 35 in 2020; scam calls, 68 in 2021 versus 41 the previous year; disturbing the peace calls, 62 in 2021 compared to 114 in 2020; illegal burning, 14 in 2021 versus 31 in 2020; traffic stops, 3,816 in the past year compared to 3,107 the year before; and suspicious activity calls, 309 in 2021 and 242 in 2020.
