Worthington Middle School students excel in Math Counts event

Seven seventh-graders and seven eighth-graders participated in Thursday's Math Counts Competition in Marshall, and Worthington students met a goal by coming home with the "Most Improved Team" award out of 10 schools. They also earned the first-place team award for Class AA.


Individual Worthington Middle School students earning awards were: eighth-grader Rut Ramos Ramos, first place individual, second place count down round and first place team; eighth-grader Andrew Bristow, third place count down round and first place team; eighth-grader Bethany Abotta, fourth place individual and first place team;  and seventh-grader Lily Gaudian, first place team.


Additional competitors were eighth-graders Enri Fuentes, Vicente Morales, Yair Hernandez Ortega and Zahara Gebremariam; and seventh-graders Paxton Kumi, Danial Garcia, Montego Wright, Annika Hietbrink and Kevin Hildago.


The first-place team of four students will be participating in the state competition on March 7-8 in Plymouth.
