Worthington man is found guilty of criminal sexual conduct

A Nobles County jury on Feb. 13 returned a verdict finding Christopher Rubiales-Sandoval of Worthington guilty of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, according to a press release from Nobles County Attorney Braden Hoefert's office.

The evidence presented at trial was that, during a period between May and August of 2023, Rubiales-Sandoval sexually abused the victim, who was a child under the age of 13, on two separate occasions.

The trial lasted four days and was tried by Special Assistant Nobles County Attorney Jenna Peterson on behalf of the State. The jury deliberated for over three hours before finding Rubiales-Sandoval guilty of all charges. Sentencing is set for April 1.

The press release added that the Nobles County Attorney’s Office wishes to reaffirm its commitment to vigorously prosecute all cases of child sexual abuse in Nobles County. It also thanked the members of the jury for their attention and their service.
