Motorists traveling on Minnesota 86 through Lakefield can expect a detour beginning Monday, weather permitting, as crews begin reconstruction on 1.3 miles of Minnesota 86, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The project will include grading, pavement, utility replacement, lighting, drainage and sidewalk reconstruction.
Minnesota 86 through Lakefield will be closed during construction and traffic detoured. Local access will be maintained for local residents and businesses. Visit the project website on MnDOT’s webpage for detour information. Construction is expected to be complete by mid-November.
Benefits of the project includes improved pedestrian accommodations, updated utilities, smoother road surfaces and increased safety along the corridor.
R & R Excavating Inc. was awarded the project with a bid of $8,295,538.92.
