Wollum to run for District 21A House seat instead of Senate office

A candidate for Minnesota's District 21 Senate seat has exited that race and opted to run for District 21A Representative instead.

Krist Wollum, who resides on a family farm outside of Porter in Lincoln County, announced the decision Thursday,

"With current events of Joe Schomacker announcing his intent to not run for re-election, I would like to announce my intention to run for the House of Representatives District 21A seat," Wollum stated in his announcement. "Mr. Schomacker did an amazing job representing his district for 16 years, and I would hope to continue his values and leadership if elected.

"I feel this position would give me a better ability to be able to continue my involvement in my farming and livestock operation," he added.

Wollum's experience includes serving as president of his local Jaycees chapter that helps the youth in the surrounding communities; involvement with the Midwest Cattlemen’s Association, serving on its board of directors and as its president.; and active membership in the Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association and service as its president in 2017 and 2018. He was named Minnesota Cattlemen of the year in 2020 and was nominated to serve as the legislative chair after that.
