WHS marks graduation with ceremony for 237 students

A total of 237 students celebrated their graduation from Worthington High School this past Friday night.
Among those speaking during the event were graduating students Glenda Lopez Martin, Cristina Mireles and Cassie Schulz and Worthington Learning Center Principal Spencer Wieneke, a one-time sixth-grade science teacher to many of this year's graduates.
Class officers for this year's senior class were: Schulz, president; Peer Htoo, vice president; Paige Barber, secretary; and Liv Vander Kooi, treasurer.
This year's Triple 'A' Award Winners were Austin Kinser and Madison Sieve. Senior Students of Excellence by subject were: Agriculture: Dylan Harms; Business: Peer Htoo; Communication Arts: Raegan Phelps; Family and Consumer Sciences: Annie Siri; Industrial Tech: Tyler Elsner-Calvin; Mathematics: Andres Duarte; Music: Ayana Leovan; Physical Education And Health: Henok Ergicho; Science: Brianna Persing; Social Studies: Jack Schmitz; Visual Arts: Chelsea Souksavath; and World Languages: Karlie Luong.
The quote chosen by this year's graduating class comes from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
