The Worthington Trojan Speech Tournament took place on Saturday at the high school, with WHS playing host to 16 schools. Murray County Central was the day’s team champion and River Valley, Windom Area and Luverne finished in second, third and fourth place, respectively.
Among those taking part in the meet for the Trojans were: Angela Dailey, second place, discussion; Lucy O’Donnell, second, and Ayana Leovan, blue, both in humorous; Isabella Kouame, second, and Gisel Martinez, third, both in prose; Austin Kinser, third place, and Jay Chavez, blue, both in extemporaneous reading; Camerom Kinser, third place, and Aiden Harwood, fifth place, both in extemporaneous speaking; Mackenzie Platt, fourth, and Sofia Magana, sixth, both in storytelling; and Quinn Benz, fifth, poetry.
The Trojan Speech Team is coached by Brandon Caster, Erin Makela and Linda Neugebauer.
