Wednesday crashes on Minnesota 60, U.S. 75 each cause injuries

One person was injured in a crash on Minnesota 60 late Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2020 Ford Fusion operated by Shawn Thomas Mendel, 40, of Worthing, S.D., was westbound in snow/ice conditions, as was as a 2023 Peterbilt semi operated by Zakaria El Barhmi, 41, of St. Paul, when they collided. The crash was reported at 4:30 p.m. from milepost 55 in Cottonwood County's Midway Township.
Both Mendel and El Barhmi were unhurt. A passenger in the Ford, David Derold Florey, 61, of Worthing, S.D., was taken to Windom Area Health with a non-life-threatening injury.
The Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office, along with the Mountain Lake Police and Fire Departments and Ambulance, assisted at the scene.

One person was also injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in Rock County.
The State Patrol reported that a 2022 Ford Excursion operated by R G Hensley, 81, of Luverne, was northbound in snow/ice conditions, as was a 2024 Cascadia Semi operated by Wendell William Yoder, 53, of Waterbury, Neb., when they collided. The crash was reported at 12:14 p.m. two miles south of Hardwick in Mound Township.
Hensley and Yoder were both uninjured in the crash. One of four passengers in the Excursion, Judy Marie Hensley, 73, of Luverne, was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
The Luverne and Hardwick Fire Departments and the Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
