The Worthington Community Football Club played on the road Sunday night in Stillwater and dropped a 5-0 decision to the first-place St. Croix Football Club.
The setback for the Toros was the third straight and drops them to 4-4 overall on the season. St. Croix, meanwhile, continues to sit atop the United Premier Soccer League Midwest West Division with a record of 6-1.
WCFC, after a hot start, has met strong opposition in recent matches. The Toros were edged on the road 4-3 by the Minneapolis FC, which is 4-1-1 this season, on May 24, and they then suffered a 7-1 setback May 29 at Trojan Field at the hands of the St. Paul Blackhawks.
The Toros will play their final home meet of the season at 7 p.m. when they face Austin Villa FC. WCFC’s regular-season finale is slated for June 15 against 1826 Academy at 6 p.m. at North St. Paul High School.
