Volunteers added their GreenTouch on Saturday to Kilen Woods State Park near Lakefield. Sponsored by Federated Rural Electric in Jackson, 14 volunteers and three park employees helped spruce up Kilen Woods.
Jason Honkomp, park ranger from Kilen Woods, said the annual event demonstrates that people care about natural resources and Kilen Woods State Park. He said: "Federated and the volunteers help us get ready for the summer picnics, hiking and camping season, donating about 48 hours of work. It was especially helpful this year as the park opens for camping season this coming weekend.”
Volunteers received a free hot dog lunch from Federated. The GreenTouch program is a partnership between Federated, a Touchstone Energy cooperative, and Kilen Woods State Park. Over the last 25 years 444 Federated GreenTouch volunteers have donated about 1,427 hours.
