Two-vehicle crash south of Jackson injures two

Two people were injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash south of Jackson.

 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2011 Nissan Maxima operated by Jordan Hawn, 36, of Spirit Lake was southbound on U.S. 71 and a 2011 Chevy Equinox operated by Maria Cruzbanegas, 27, of Estherville was northbound when the vehicles collided about five miles north of the Minnesota-Iowa state line. The crash was reported at 5:28 a.m. Tuesday,  

 

Hawn was transported to Sanford Jackson Medical Center with a non-life-threatening injury. Cruzbanegas also sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. The State Patrol indicated that Cruzbanegas was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

 

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson Fire Department and Jackson Ambulance assisted at the scene.
