Two Soil and Water supervisor candidates filed in Nobles County earlier this week to ensure there are individuals running for each county office up for election in November.
For Soil and Water Supervisor District 4, Richard Nelsen is a candidate, and for Soil Water Supervisor District 5, Paul Langseth is running. Both of them are incumbent candidates.
The filing period for county offices concluded Tuesday, and each candidate for county office is an incumbent who is running unopposed. District 2 Commissioner Gene Metz, District 5 Commissioner Chris Dybevick, County Sheriff Ryan Kruger and County Attorney Braden Hoefert are all seeking new terms.
In Jackson County, meanwhile, there are now two races set for public office. District 2 County Commissioner Don Wachal, an incumbent, will be facing Jay Moore, following Moore's filing last Friday. The other race pits Mike DeJong against Adam Koch for county sheriff as they each aim to replace the retiring Shawn Haken. Unopposed Jackson County candidates — all incumbents — are: Roger Pohlman, District 3 Commissioner, Phil Nasby, District 4 Commissioner; Kristi Meyeraan, County Attorney; Dan Riley, Soil and Water Supervisor District 2, and Paul Nelson, Soil and Water Supervisor District 4.
