Two injured, one cited for crash near Sheldon

Two people were injured Monday in a two-vehicle collision in O’Brien County.


According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, a 2020 Nissan operated by Marbel Montiel Candia, 34, of Sheldon was westbound on U.S. 18 just east of Sheldon. A 2013 Ford operated by Lori Schilling, 57, of Sanborn was also westbound and attempting to pass the Nissan when the two collided. The Ford went into the west ditch, coming to rest in a yard.


Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center. Damage to the Nissan was estimated at $6,700 and about $5,100 to the Ford. Schilling was cited for passing contrary to a highway sign or marking.
