Two hurt in Tuesday afternoon Windom crash

A three-vehicle accident was reported shortly after noon on Tuesday afternoon at the north junction of Minnesota 60 and U.S. 71 in Windom.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2022 Freightliner semi operated by John Rohrscheib of Las Vegas, Nev., was westbound on Minnesota 60. A 2008 Toyota operated by Betty Torkelson of Windom was southbound on U.S. 71 when the two vehicles collided in the intersection. The initial crash caused a light pole to fall onto a 2018 Volkswagen operated by Arlis McFarland of Lakefield.


Torkelson and McFarland were each taken to Windom Area Health with injuries deemed non-life-threatening. Rohrscheib was unhurt in the crash.

The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Department, Windom Police Department, Windom Fire Department and Windom Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
