Trojans wind up just short in volleyball upset bid

The seventh-seeded Worthington Trojans gave No. 2 seed Mankato West all it could handle Wednesday night in their sectional volleyball tournament matchup before ultimately falling 3-2 in Mankato. Game scores were 25-16, 25-18, 23-25, 21-25, 15-11.
Offensively, Madison Beckmann had 19 kills for Worthington and Janessa Hamman had 12. Beckmann also contributed three solo blocks, and Natya Khamphanh had four solo blocks. Leading the way in digs for the Trojans were Regan Schaefer with 15 and Jayden Spartz with 14.
In serving, Abryona Erwin had a pair of ace serves. Addison Gerber passed for 36 set assists for WHS, which concludes its season with a 13-16 record.
