The Worthington High School gymnastics team won yet another dual meet Thursday, defeating host Redwood Valley 136.95-127.625.

Trojans senior Jordis Weber came out on top among all competitors in the all-around, finishing the meet with a composite score of 33.8. Teammate Lucy Thier was right behind Weber in second; Jada Milbrath was fourth and Kenadie Thiner fifth.

Worthington athletes swept the top five places on the vault. Coming in tied for first with scores of 8.875 were Marley Phomsatry and Olivia Bullerman. Third through fifth place went to, in order. Isabella Lazzu, Thier and Weber.

On the bars, Milbrath's 8.625 was good enough for top honors. Thiner placed third for WHS, Thier fourth and Weber fifth. The Trojans had the first four placers on the beam — Thiner was first at 8.75 and was followed by Weber, Milbrath and Thier.

Milbrath also was the top competitor on the floor Thursday night, earning a score of 8.825. Bullerman was fourth for WHS and Thier fifth.

In just two girls basketball games this week, Jackson County Central's Rylie Cother has scored a mere one point shy of 100.

Cother, a senior guard who became the Huskies' all-time leading scorer earlier this month, shattered another school mark on Monday when she hit for 61 points in a 95-78 victory over Maple River. Cother had set JCC's previous record for points in a girls basketball game with 53 two seasons ago.

Her 61 on Monday — which came on 25-of-37 shooting from the floor — was just state two points shy of a state record of 63. Her 34 points in the first half alone was another school best.

The following night, Cother connected for 38 more points as the Huskies rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to knock off Pipestone Area 80-58. JCC has now won 11 consecutive games.

Cother committed last year to play college basketball at Winona State University.
