Trojan softball tops Fairmont on the road to get back in 'W' column

The Worthington Trojans softball team snapped a four-game losing streak Tuesday, using a six-run sixth inning to post a 7-4 victory at Fairmont.
Both teams scored a single run in the first inning, and the game would remain knotted at 1 until the Trojans' outburst in the sixth. Worthington banged out 10 hits in the game, with Bailey Ponto connecting for a triple and single and Hannah McNab adding a pair of hits. Macie Mahlberg tripled and drove in two runs for WHS, which is now 3-4 this season.
Ponto pitched all seven innings for the Trojans, allowing just four hits while walking two and striking out seven.

In girls golf Tuesday, WHS hosted Western Christian and won 217-227.
The Trojans' Claire Mahlberg earned medalist honors with a 47. Also posting counting scores were Callie Rosenberg, 53; Claire Meyer, 55; and Ellie Drost, 62.

In boys golf, Western Christian had an impressive team score of 156 in defeating the Trojans, who had 181.
Spenser Nickel and Ryan Dorcey each had rounds of 43 to lead WHS, and Cameron Krommendyk was right behind at 44. Ayden Stugelmeyer had the other counting score for the Trojans at 57.
Tyson Van Zee and Ryer Roetman each shot 37s for Western Christian.
