The Spirit of Worthington Trojan Marching Band will depart by bus for Cuero, Texas on Wednesday to participate in that community’s Turkey Fest celebration. The Worthington High School band will mark 50 years of turkey racing between Worthington and Cuero; Cuero’s band is expected to play at the 2023 King Turkey Day.
A donation from JBS and UFCW Local 663 in the amount of $4,000 that was announced last week will help support the trip. The money will go toward helping feed the band in Cuero and during its trip, along with some additional costs along the way.
The band will head south down to Cuero following a successful Saturday performance in Algona, Iowa. The Spirit of Worthington Trojan Marching Band earned first place in the open class as well as parade champion at the Algona Band Day event.
