Firefighters were called Thursday morning fire in Worthington that ultimately claimed a farm building, multiple vehicles and farm equipment.
Worthington Fire Chief Pat Shorter said firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 6:44 a.m. Thursday to Section 10 in Worthington Township along Paul Avenue. The farm building -- a quonset structure of about 40 feet by 60 feet -- was fully engulfed upon firefighters' arrival.
Inside the structure were four vehicles, three tractors and a hay baler, along with a livestock trailer, multiple hay rakes, fuel tanks that contained gas and diesel fuel, an air compressor and many tools. Additionally, a pair of adjacent hoop barns on the property sustained fire damage, along with a chicken barn.
Shorter said that 25 Worthington firefighters responded at the scene and fought the fire for approximately two and a half hours. He added that a fire marshal was at the scene later Thursday, and that the cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
No injuries were report and no animals lost as a result of the fire.
