A Slayton man died Friday as the result of a multi-vehicle crash in Cottonwood County.
According to a press release from the Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office, a 1998 Mack semi with a bottom dump trailer operated by James Beeck, 69, of Fulda, was southbound on Cottonwood County 7, and a 2019 Buick Enclave operated by Julianne Paplow, 42, of rural Dundee was northbound on Cottonwood County 7. A 2010 Subaru Forester operated by Sean Goodman, 29, of Slayton was eastbound on Cottonwood County 13 and failed to stop at the stop sign, entered the intersection and was struck by the semi. The Enclave was then struck as the Forester and semi entered the south ditch, where they came to rest. The crash was reported at 1:12 p.m. Friday.
The drivers of both the semi and Enclave, as well as a 12-year-old passenger in the Enclave, were all transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Goodman -- the driver of the Forester — was pronounced dead at the scene.
Assisting the Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office at the scene were the Westbrook Fire Department, Police Department and Ambulance, the Minnesota State Patrol, Fulda Ambulance and Cottonwood County Highway Department.
