A 22-year-old Spirit Lake man is facing multiple charges following a report of a man making threats with a gun Sunday night in Spirit Lake.
According to a press release, the Spirit Lake Police Department investigated a report at 10:12 p.m. Sunday of a male brandishing a handgun and making threats toward others inside an apartment at 2013 32nd Street, the location of Hawthorn Apartments. Upon arrival, officers were safely able to remove the victims from the apartment. However, the suspect – Brian DeJesus Alameda – remained armed inside.
Officers were able to start a positive dialogue with DeJesus Alameda and eventually convinced him to put down his firearm and surrender. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Dickinson County Jail on charges of: going armed with intent, a Class D felony; domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor; assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor; possession of controlled substance-marijuana first offense, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
The Spirit Lake Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and Okoboji, Arnolds Park and Milford police departments.
