Spirit Lake crash results in injury -- as well as citation

One person was injured earlier this week as a result of a crash at the intersection of Iowa 9/U.S. 71 and 18th Street in Spirit Lake.

According to the Spirit Lake Police Department, a 2020 Chevrolet Trax operated by Jezzika Guthridge-McKee, 32, of Milford had stopped at a stop sign on 18^th Street when it pulled out and collided with a 2025 Hyundai operated by Karen Morris, 64. The crash took place shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.

Morris was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. Damage to the Chevrolet was estimated at $9,000; damage to the Hyundai was estimated at $10,000. Guthridge-McKee was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.
