Small residential fire quickly extinguished in Worthington

The Worthington Fire Department was dispatched to a fire Wednesday night at a residence located at 310 W. Okabena St.

Worthington Fire Chief Shorter described the second-floor fire as small in nature, adding that there ended up being minimal smoke damage. Once the residence is cleaned, it will be able to again be occupied.

Shorter also credited Worthington Police Officer Bryant Schroeder for his work at the scene. Schroeder was just two blocks away at the time of the call and was able to quickly arrive at the residence and put out much of the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

Shorter said the call for the fire came at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday.
