Saturday is busy with sectional softball, baseball action

In Section 3A softball Saturday, Sleepy Eye downed Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove 8-2, and it was Edgerton/Southwest

Minnesota Christian 10, Renville County West 0. Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian will face Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a semifinal at the Marshall Softball Complex.

 

In Section 3AA softball, it was: Luverne 2, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 0; Dassell-Cokato 7, Jackson County Central 6; Pipestone Area 8, Minnewaska Area 3; Windom 3, Litchfield 0; Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 6, Windom 0; and Jackson County Central 15, Pipestone Area 1. Dassell-Cokato meets Luverne at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a semifinal game at the Marshall Softball Complex. JCC takes on Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta at 5 p.m. in an elimination game at the same site.

 

In Section 2AAA softball, New Ulm nipped Marshal l1-0 and the Tigers blanked Mankato West 12-0. Marshall plays New Ulm at 5 p.m. Tuesday in an elimination game at Caswell Park in North Mankato.

 

In Section 3A baseball, it was: Adrian-Ellsworth 5, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 1; Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 7, Adrian-Ellsworth 1; Murray County Central 6, Wabasso 1; Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 5, Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove 2; and Minneota 8, Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian 0. Adrian-Ellsworth meets Minneota at 5 pm. Tuesday in an elimination game in Milroy. Murray County Central will play for the south subsection title at 7 p.m. Tuesday against R-T-R in Milroy.

 

Play in the Section 3AA baseball tournament begins Tuesday.

 

Pairings have now been announced for the Section 2AAA baseball tournament, which opens Wednesday. Top-seeded Mankato West will host No 8 seed Worthington at 5 p.m. at ISG Field. Marshall is the third seed and faces New Ulm at 6 p.m. at Legion Field. The tournament continues Saturday in New Ulm.
