Voters in the Sibley-Ocheyedan Community School District approved a 10-year physical plant and equipment levy on Tuesday, with nearly two-thirds of voters casting "yes" votes.
There was a total of 650 votes — or 64.94% — in favor of the new voted PPEL, and 351 against. The previous voted PPEL had been passed in 2016 and expires this year. It was a rate of 67 cents; the new rate is $1. The district asked voters twice last fall to approve a new voted PPEL of $1.34 but was told no both times.
The voted PPEL is used for infrastructure and school facility updates.
