Sibley-Ocheyedan Community Schools Superintendent Stan De Zeeuw issued a written statement Friday following an incident in the schools.
"School safety is our top priority," he wrote. "The high school was made aware of some concerning messages posted by a student. When made aware by other students, Principal Hertz and Superintendent De Zeeuw immediately took the messages seriously and began investigating. We applaud students for coming forward with concerning information like this.
"A thorough investigation took place, and it was determined that there was no threat to our students' and staff's safety. Law enforcement was involved and assisted in the investigation. At no time during the investigation did school administration or law enforcement feel that any staff or students were in danger. The situation was resolved, no classes were disrupted and all student activities continued as scheduled."
Added De Zeeuw: "With recent events that have happened both nationally and locally, we feel it is important to communicate this with our local school district community and to assure you of your commitment to school safety. Our dedicated staff will continue to support your students and move forward together."
