Road construction on U.S. 75 in Luverne to begin in mid-April

Motorists traveling on U.S. 75 through Luverne can expect a detour beginning Wednesday, April 15, weather permitting, as crews begin construction, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The project includes pavement improvements, roadway safety improvements at the intersection with Main Street, and pedestrian safety improvements throughout the project. The city of Luverne will also replace utilities in coordination with the project.

U.S. 75 will be closed to through traffic between Main Street (Rock County 4) and 131st Street (Rock County 37) for the entire duration of the project.

Construction will be completed in stages.

  • South of Dodge Street and North of Cardinal Drive

  • Dodge Street to Cardinal Drive (scheduled to begin after Luverne School’s summer dismissal, and expected to reopen before school resumes in September)

  • Main Street intersection (one-month duration of work)

  • North of the veterans' home

Construction is expected to continue until mid-October. Schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseeable circumstances. Traffic will be detoured, but access to homes, businesses, and the school will be maintained during construction.

Henning Construction Inc. was awarded the project with a bid of $13,598,341.93.
