Greg and Barb Raymo were announced as this year's King Turkey Day Parade Marshals and Bruce Kness as the Honorary Turkey during Thursday night's KTD Mixer in Worthington's downtown pavilion.
KTD Board President Megan Prins, in introducing the Raymos, cited the couple's volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Love INC and American Lutheran Church; various boards including the Historic Dayton House, Hospice Cottage, Trojan Boosters and the Worthington Regional Economic Development Corp.; and re-establishing the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization. Prins added that the Raymos are always looking out for small-town interests in the banking industry and small business start-ups through the Southwest Initiative Foundation. Both have recently retired but remain active in the community.
Kness has taken part in several King Turkey Day traditions such as serving pancakes, running the Turkey Day 10K and being a member of the parade committee. He was a member of the Paycheck race team in 2004 and 2005 and later served two three-year terms on the King Turkey Day Board of Directors. He can be easily spotted on the golf course wearing a KTD hat.
King Turkey Day, an annual Worthington tradition, was first celebrated Oct. 5, 1939.
