Public hearing on firearms for deer is set for Thursday night

The Nobles County Board of Commissioners will host a public hearing beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Nobles County Government Center's Farmers Room to discuss deer hunting firearm options.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has notified Sheriff Ryan Kruger of the county board's option to adopt an ordinance that could limit the types of firearms used to take deer. Without the adoption of said ordinance, Nobles County would allow legal firearms that were not previously allowed prior to Jan. 1, 2026. These additional firearm allowances are currently acknowledged by the State Legislature.
