Among the items on Monday's Worthington City Council meeting agenda is consideration of a professional services proposal for a new Centennial Park ballfield restroom.
The meeting agenda packet explains that the Worthington ISD 518 Board of Education, during its last meeting, approved a plan to build a new softball complex on the old West Elementary site. This complex will include a new high school softball field, bleachers, dugouts, announcing stand and batting cages. In collaboration with this new complex, the city of Worthington has agreed to build a new restroom, concession and storage building.
The new building, which will sit on city property near the new field, will be part of a newly improved and redone recreational area. Some future improvements will include updated parking areas, new lighting and improvements to the city owned fields.
Short Elliott Hendrickson has submitted a proposal for design and construction services for this new restroom to be located at the Centennial Softball complex. The proposal calls for a lump sum fee of $28,500 plus some reimbursable expenses.
Two separate presentations are also planned for Monday's meeting. Tammy Makram, manager of Memorial Auditorium, will recap last season's events and preview the upcoming 2025-2026 scheduled performances. Also, an update on the city's East Ninth Avenue project will be given.
