Press release issued regarding farm accident in Cottonwood County

The Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office issued a press release Thursday about a recent farm accident that took place in Midway Township.

According to the press release, a report of a 911 call referencing a tractor-rollover in Section 19 of Midway Township was made at 1:17 p.m. July 14. The caller stated that he was cutting hay and that the tractor rolled over on him; he said he was able to get out from under the tractor.

First responders were dispatched to the scene and made contact with the victim, Steve Penner, and provided aid, the press release said. An air ambulance was also dispatched to the scene and, upon arrival, Penner was transported to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.

The Mountain Lake Police Department, Fire Department and Ambulance, as well as North Memorial Air Care, assisted at the scene.
