One hurt in Wednesday explosion in Chandler

One person was injured Wednesday following an explosion at the Chandler Feed Co.


According to a press release issued Thursday morning by Murray County Sheriff Heath Landsman, the person was taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries, Their condition was unknown at the time of the release.


Landsman indicated that Murray County Dispatch received multiple 911 calls about an explosion at the Chandler Feed Co. at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday. Numerous area fire department were immediately paged to provide mutual aid, he wrote.


Added Landsman in the release: "Mutual aid departments remained on scene until around 0420 AM 11/23/23. Chandler Fire Department is continuing to monitor the situation to make sure it does re-ignite."


Among the agencies providing assistance at the scene were the Pipestone County Sheriff's Office, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol and the Buffalo Ridge Drug and Violent Crime Task Force. Also at the scene were: Lake Wilson Fire Department and First Responders; Slayton Fire Department; Iona Fire Department; Woodstock Fire Department; Pipestone Fire Department; Worthington Fire Department; Edgerton Fire Department and Ambulance; Murray County Ambulance; Murray County Emergency Management; Nobles County Emergency Management; Grommius Trucking; Bolluyt Trucking; Xcel Energy; and C and J Construction.


Added Landsman: "We would like to thank the local businesses who brought food, water and allowed us to use their buildings to feed and provide for breaks for emergency responders.
