One hurt as electric scooter, SUV collide on state highway in Fairmont

A 22-year-old male was injured Wednesday as the result of a collision between an electric scooter and an SUV in Fairmont.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, an electric scooter operated by Elijah Micka Thompson of Fairmont and a 2019 Honda Pilot operated by Xue Schrader, 40, of Fairmont were both northbound on Minnesota 15 when they collided in the intersection of Johnson Street. The crash was reported at 12:36 p.m. Wednesday.

Thompson was taken to Mayo Health System-Fairmont with a non-life-threatening injury, while Schrader was unhurt. The Martin County Sheriff's Office, Fairmont Police Department and Mayo Ambulance assisted at the scene.
